Boruto (ボルト) is the Japanese pronunciation of the English word bolt. It's both a reference to Neji and his father. Neji's name meant "screw" as bolts and screws are both common hardware supplies. It also has the "ruto" Just like his father's name.
Some people chose to use Boruto over Bolt because they feel it fits more in theme. I personally don't like Boruto because it sounds too much like burrito.
