Subaru's a cyborg, not a robot. The difference being robots are completely mechanical, whereas cyborgs use a living subject as the base and add mechanical parts.

In any case the TSABs technology is much farther along than ours, especially in cloning and genetic manipulation. It's not far-fetched to think they would have the technology to fertilize an egg with an egg.
