Lol, Dude, no matter what they did, it would not be accepted because their fan base can be super retarded.
I love Sega and all, but you already know that if the "fans" had problems with sonic boom , they would have found SOMETHING to complain about with a spin-off like this.

Anon 2, you don't know what you're talking about.
Sonic Boom was a disaster and the awful sales figures prove it. Sonic "fans" didn't want another Crash Bandicoot. The game was a painfully slow identity crisis that broke the budget and strayed far away from what Sonic was originally all about.
Instead of bashing the fanbase, you really should be bashing Sega for their lack of consistency and blatant disregard for their IP.
