Grass-types are all good and fine, but I think you're actually best off bringing a Lanturn along. They're pretty bulky, they resist water-types, AND they're packing STAB electric attacks.

And at the risk of getting too technical, Gyarados has access to ice and flying-type attacks, and if one opts not to Mega Evolve their Gyarados, it actually takes neutral damage from grass-types while benefitting from STAB on flying-type attacks. Meanwhile electric-tpes will be super effective regardless of if it's Mega or not.

TLDR; Grass is not an optimal matchup, and I'm a massive Pokénerd.

water/dragon type can and does know flamethrower grass type is doomed best bet is flying electric types or flying fairy type
