Part of the scrutiny thing is that, in Japan, many people see or used to see being a lesbian as being a "phase" a girl can go through that they'll grow out of.
Slowly, but surely, this is getting phased out. Not too long ago there was a lesbian wedding in Tokyo Disney.

It's the opposite. Tharja is a reincarnation of Shara, and it's implied that Robin is a reincarnation of Kamui/Corrin.
She clearly says in her supports that she'll be reborn as many times as it takes to be with the Avatar, and her conversation with FeMU outright predicts the events of Awakening. Also, If/Fates provides the origin of why she's so attached to the Avatar
