Not that surprising at all considering how much the series has been milked. A great problem of many of today’s anime. They just keep going and going and going while discarding anything the hero actually learns just so they can do that. It is very dumb, it leads to many anime/manga where you can skip huge segments at the right time, and the recaps to catch up will fill you in just fine because it had that little importance to start with.
