Toriyama got bored with blonde hair as a power up because it wasn't anime enough, so he tossed it out and made red and blue the colors.

#1875188 It looks the same, but the fact is Goku has learned to mold God Ki, or Immortal Energy in to his being in the same way he became a God with the help of the other Saiyans. This infused form allows him control over both Normal and God Ki. From what we've seen so far, having God Ki allows him to withstand more damage, even heal from it faster, react faster and see speed and movement that even a Super Saiyan 3 hasn't been able to follow. It is an over all upgrade.

With BoG he could go back to basics and have the base form be king again, but of course that didn't last because like they'd really let him throw out the most iconic and marketable imagery in the series. And so, Super Saiyan Blue.

I'm not sure where you got this information from, but the original idea of Super Saiyan wasn't "Blonde" but "Golden". In other anime series, in Lore even, it was believed that a "super" form or "Transcended" form would yield golden hair or what have you. Sun Wukong from a Journey to the west, the ORIGINAL inspiration for Goku in the first place, had golden hair. Of course, he Was the Monkey King, and a God. The Golden Super Saiyan hair wasn't due to animation, it was based on both Chinese/Japanese lore.

^ You're right and wrong. The golden hair does jive with the story of Sun Wukong, but the decision to change the color in the first place was indeed to make it easier on Toriyama's assistant, who spent large amounts of time inking in Goku's hair while touching up his art. This was confirmed in an interview some time ago.
