Something like that would require character development. Which for some reason the writers don't think he needs since they can write the same jokes 50 times over and it will sell.

Nope. Pretty sure he's only like that so the series doesn't go into the H-zone. Like pretty much every other harem protagonist. So that's hardly a possibility. It's clear to me that the writers are probably into femdom though since it's littered across the series and has only gotten more extreme as time has go on.
Also at least half of the girls in Rito's harem group are humans. Even if some of them aren't human they'd probably listen to him if he said back the fuck up considering how keen they are on making him happy (in their own deluded ways so to speak). I haven't see this new series (for fear of giving my brain anime carpal tunnel) but I'm pretty sure most of the characters aren't overly forceful as much as momo and miss nemesis here. I mean at this point it's hard to sympathize with Rito when all he does is let himself be toyed with then run away or have someone walk in at the last second to save him. He's only submissive so the fanservice can cranked up to a higher point. That's it. Anyone with eyes and a brain could see that.

Again, don't care about how late I am to the conversation, but considering the way Rito acts, my headcanon will always be that Rito is erotophobic.
