the anime ending happened before the manga did. they makeshifted it. should probably go read the manga if you can. it probably ends differently, though I havent' read it myself to know.

the anime diverges greatly from the manga after the arc where they kill the priest guy. There is so much that the anime skips out on. Hell, Lubbock has a significantly different death.

Don't feel bad, guys. The manga ending was much worse.

In the anime, Esdeath consoles Tatsumi's dead body one last time before they depart to the afterlife.

In the manga, well... I won't spoil it. But it was much more disappointing compared to this finale here...

IIRC, the Manga went an entirely different route after the first few members died.
