I think it stems from the fact most seem to think her fight is easy as fuck. It also seems to be making fun of the fact she goes into this crazy blood form yet isn't much harder. Hence why the hunter beat her with just pebbles. I don't think she was that easy but compared to the rest she wasn't not that bad. Still a fight that imo is way over exaggerated with how easy people say it is, unless you cheese her of course but then you're just a bitch.

She wasn't that easy, a nice fight, but still weaker than the girl with a fire sword found within the Chalice dungeon.

Anon2 Maria is definitely one of the easier of the Old Hunter bosses, and she's also got one of the easiest attack patterns to read and dodge. The only reason she isn't completely disappointing is that she does a LOT of damage if you don't dodge. She's nothing compared to Ludwig and Laurence. The double-hockey-sticks of hell.
