In Godzilla Final Wars he took a meteor to the face. One of the Millennium films he survived a pseudo-black hole, another film Absolute Zero (which is impossible). The 80-90's series he survived being in volcano for years, swam in magma and it took absorbing too much radiation and melting down to kill him. Not even a monster made from the Oxygen Destroyer could kill him.

That "Godzilla" wasn't the real Godzilla.
It's been written off as some other monster and officially according to Toho, that monster is just "Zilla".
The only good thing to come from the American 1998 film was the animated series based on it, which was actually good, surprisingly.
I wouldn't mind if they made that series an exception, but Toho hasn't said anything about the animated series yet, just that the film it was based on was not the real Godzilla.
