Is it just me or does anime over exaggerate fevers to like a ridiculous degree? I mean I've had a few myself as a kid and yeah you can feel real shitty during them but never to the point I was falling all over place or passing out lol. Cute scene tho.

Japan is a very isolated island nation. They don't have the immunity system for sicknesses that people from less isolated nations have.
So when they get sick, they get SICK.

I had a really bad fever once when I was around 13 years old. I kept sleepwalking (something I hadn't done before and haven't since) and dreaming that me and I my friends were battling a giant Jelly Jiggler from Bobobo-Bo-Bobo.

Nice theory anon1930569, but no. What's happening with anime's exaggeration of fevers/sickness is the same thing that's happening with every other medium's exaggeration of sickness, regardless of country: nothing happens in fiction without a reason, so it has to be debilitating to at least some degree, otherwise what's the point of bringing it up? Why you think this only happens in anime I'll never know.

And no, the people with nearly the longest average lifespans in the world don't have poor immune systems. Any landmass with multiple commercial airliners arriving and departing everyday is WAY past the point where they'd be isolated from diseases.

He didn't say their immune system was "poor" immune systems. He said they don't have the immunity system for sickness that people from less isolated nations have. There's a difference there.

It's something I've heard as well. Being isolated means the bugs and viruses and diseases are also isolated. So they're used to those primarily.

Bring in a virus or bug from another area of the world and their immune system is given a real blow.

It also doesn't help that overall, their over the counter drugs aren't anywhere as strong as the Wests.

But all of that aside, this is freakin' anime literally for kids so don't take it too seriously, okay?

Leatherhead93, in cartoons and in real life acting everything should be al least a little aver exaggerated including speaking - enunciations - that way the audience gets what's going on. Otherwise Ash's words would be jumbled and He would appear drunk...hehehe a drunk Ash, can u imagine? hehee. (stumbling onto the battlefield) "I ... think I choo you pukachi!" hehehe
