from official release:
CATEGORY Toxic Lizard Pokémon
TYPE Poison/Fire
HEIGHT 2'00"
WEIGHT 10.6 lbs.
ABILITY Corrosion
Salandit emits toxic gas, together with flames, from the base of its tail. This poisonous gas has a sweet smell, and anyone who unknowingly breathes it in will become dizzy. Salandit is not a very powerful Pokémon, but its cunning nature allows it to battle fiercely by throwing its opponents off balance.

Salandit females not only release toxic gases, they can also emit pheromones that attract males of all species, including Pokémon and humans. Inhaling these pheromones may cause opponents to be controlled by Salandit’s will.

Salandit has the Corrosion Ability, a new Ability that no other Pokémon has possessed before. With the Corrosion Ability, it becomes possible to inflict the Poisoned status condition even on Steel- and Poison-type Pokémon.

Access to a Toxic that can badly Poison even Steel and other Poison types? Gamefreak is really trying to break the metagame again this generation.

It's gotta become a Komodo Dragon upon evolving.

It's ability reminds me how Beedrill's twineedle used to be able to poison steel and poison type pokemon in generation 2. Definitely a troll pokemon

Well, Gen 2 was the first generation they introduced type related natural immunity to certain types of status, like poisonning and burning, as well as paralysis if induced by Thunder wave. So they went simple and only checked if the target pokemon was the same type as the attack and status to activate the restriction. Twineedle being bug type, not poison type, would not be detected by that and thus would be able to poison the normally protected poison-typed pokemon, and also steel-typed were no immune to bug-type attacks making poisoning through a bug-typed attack possible.

aah, nostalgia. :)

"Pheromones that attract males of all species" eh? I sense a disturbance in the 34th rule...

Steel has taken quite a beating defensively these past couple of gens. First it loses its resistance to dark and ghost, now there is a way for them to be poisoned.

Wait... Poison and Steel counter Fairy, so is this just supposed to be a counter-counter?
