First look at the style,
New layer
Guess the position
Guess the size
Draw the basic shape
Does it look like the right size, shape and position?
If no, try tinkering with this before moving on
If yes,
New layer
Get the lighting a bit worked out, how bright?
New layerS
Use layer opacity to create a gradient for each layer so you build it up and you can tinker pretty easy


And then, practice a lot
