It's almost as if they live in a world where 10 years olds go around attacking pokemon and take them from their homes/families so they can be forced to fight other pokemon.

Nah but seriously haven't we seen pokemon tortured/beaten before? I guess the way it was shot was different but like EVERY region has some pokemon abusing asshole in it so I'm kind of numb to this. Would be interesting to have a main character do it though.

Yes, kicking it is bad, but making it cockfight with other animals that shoot thunder bolts or spew flamethrowers is fine!
