Speaking a language and reading the written language are two completely different things. Where as one you understand while growing up, and the other you actually have to learn to understand and comprehend.

And if you've seen writing in the series, it's a bunch of incomprehensible mess xD. Besides, what sounds like English to us, could in fact be them speaking a totally different language.
