Weapon is the Mexican Mondragón Modelo 1908 semi-automatic rifle designed by General Manuel Mondragón. Mexico at this time did not have the technology to manufacture these weapons themselves, so they were manufactured by the Swiss arms manufacturer "Schweizerische Industrie Gesellschaft" or simply SIG-Sauer.

In 1915 the German Empire purchased all the remaining stock and issued them as the "Flieger-Selbstlader-Karabiner Modell 15, often abbreviated as the "FL-S.-K. 15".

A very interesting (albeit complicated) gun that proved unreliable in the conditions of the trenches where it had a tendency to jam. Thus is was used mainly by aircraft crews until a much better solution could be made. Once machine guns replaced the rifle, the era of proper dogfighting would begin.
