Haku was never referred to with any specific pronouns by HAKU'S OWN PARENTS.

Everyone who meets Haku simply believes the claim that Haku is in fact male, but the series does nobody any favors with the choker, androgynous voice, and baggy clothes.

In short: it can go either way because canon itself is confused on which Haku was.

I prefer female, but then again, there are people who don't. It's that simple.

Actually, in one of Haku's very first scenes, he says to Naruto: "By the way, I'm a boy." And Naruto says something like "But you're even cuter than Sakura!"

Doesn't matter what anyone says, this is Canon. He is Zabuza's tool and will everything for him. He sees him as a father figure but we all know this happens when they've been traveling for long periods of time.
