If you would care to try to understand, what he was saying is that he finds it weird how someone can both hate and love THE SAME THING at once, or hate something yet make exceptions wherever they see fit.

Easily answered. First off & stating the obvious, furry is a fetish.
Sexual attraction is all about subjectivity and logic never has a say in it. Where one will see beautiful furry hentai, another won't get past zoophobia or dislike for female bodies covered with hair. Both attitudes have value. You may well commiserate with like-minded buddies about the idiocy of the other side & dismiss all their arguments, that will not transform their sexual preference overnight. If anything, mocking them will only make them less open to change.
Furry/Kemono isn't exactly my cup of tea. While I've discovered many excellent pictures over time (this one included), I've also found more than half to be in poor taste if not downright revolting. To love good furry doesn't mean you need to be blind to the less savoury specimens of the genre.
Trying to expand on the comments of both Zafmg & bm54321 which have equal merit in my opinion. 'Shut the fuck up & enjoy the art' too. Shutting up. ^^
