Maybe I'm overthinking stuff, but with a lot of same-sex pairings, someone is always cast as 'the man' and 'the woman,' as if even as you're drawing/writing two people of the same sex together, deep down you can't buy it really working that way; one has to be that gender in pronouns only. When it's guys, see the "uke/seme" thing. So I love the way this image defies it. Note that each of them is in some ways being stereotypically male and in other ways stereotypically female. One's shorter, and crying... and that one's doing the carrying and wearing a pant suit. The other's in the frilly dress and veil and being carried... and that one's the less visibly emotional and also has less feminine features. I don't know the characters or series so I don't know what comes from their canon designs or characterization, but... I just can't tell you how insanely awesome I find that.
