The author gave his readers a choice to determine her fate. this is what they voted for. His punishment was to make it as over the top as possible for that extra gut punch.
FYI, her fate and her little sisters fate is very different in the original web novels. Blame your fellow fans, not the author.

Overlord has crashed completely if you ask me.
You know the story is done wrong when you want the Mainchracters to die horribly.
This "invulnerable psychopath" shit is just boring and annoying as hell.
And I won't view Momonga as a "Monster" either, he is a Human stuck in a Lich body.
He is not a real Lich. And he has become a massmurdering bastard.
I have fantasys from a group of true GM Supreme Beings slowly destroying Nazarick in front of his eyes and torturing every artificially created bastard monster there to death.
Congratz now I fucking hate them all.

I mean generally speaking.
These kind of things are so common.
In fact, I think there are less stories that introduce a character and kill them off as irrelevant nobodies than there are those where an irrelevant character gets a bunch development and personality just because it will add more shock value to whatever happens to them.
It's not that it's wrong to do it, it's just that for Overlord especially it's become a meme at this point.
Whenever a new character that isn't from nazarick get introduced, you can always flip a coin:
Heads = die and get ressurected
Tails = die
coin somehow standing up = character sticks around for a bit like brain & evil eye

Not gunna lie... Haven't wanted a main character to die this bad since Light and Yuki (future dairy)
No seriously, this episode was all kinds of fucked up...

Agreed, Ainz went from badass who knows when to make tough decisions. To a psychopath with no sense of morality in the span of seconds.
Was really baffling to watch especially since we've seen him help so many characters before.
Worst part is that he isn't even doing it for a good reason, just to save face in front of his generals that interpreted his actions as a want to dominate the world.
