It kinda is like Goku and Chi-Chi except the protagonist is more likeable, the love interest is way hotter, is actually given time and reasons to develop feelings for him, is helpful and supportive but still powerful and capable, has a backstory and is an actual character. So like just their potential romance is better in every way to one that's been established for years? But who knows, maybe Boa will disappear for years and than resurface to strongarm Luffy into marriage and become a nagging, hysterical and shrill killjoy... but she'd still have better writing to back her.
