Thanks, Anon #2333618. And I never said it was ever anything other than my own opinion, just to be clear, you know?

It's a personal take on the information provided, which was sadly underdeveloped and poorly introduced throughout Broly's first movie. I mentioned that before and stand by it. I could equally do so with the newer Broly, but his story doesn't require it; since the first movie exists, they clearly took most if not all of the best parts of that iteration and formulated something way easier to digest. No guesswork needed. New Broly, to me, doesn't have a "better" personality, but an "altered expansion" of the first's key points. And I totally approve, not that it matters.

I think ViperVice is on point, as well. The narrative's delivery is the deciding factor, as I see it. That's what I was getting at. I only provided my own interpretations of clear events to show that, if given the choice, you can easily make conclusions as to what lead to Broly's personality - and to say he didn't have one is and would be just plain silly. To me, that's more incorrect and based solely on opinion than anything I could possibly whip up, and all it serves to do is pointlessly argue. The fanbase doesn't need anymore in-fighting far as I can tell.

If people like the newer Broly's personality more, great! But it exists almost in its entirety by leapfrogging off the backbone of what Movie 8 gave us. And that's not an opinion or headcannon by any stretch of the imagination. I truly think love for the old Broly was used to make sure the new version had something for everyone, regardless of how they felt about the first. Old Broly requires people to make connections from information that was either more subtle or easily written off. If saying that information don't exist or that drawing those connections is false works for some, I can't refute that, but I personally believe a lot of it was pretty obvious.

But opinions are just that at the end of the day. And mine is that both Broly's should be drawn fucking Chirai right and proper. I'm a simple fan that way, I dunno. ^__^

Isn't this that Naruto / Gaara reference?

I remember in the manga where they showed a very similar scene, Naruto starting alone on the left showing his circle of friends growing over time as he ages while Gaara remains alone on the right his entire life explaining why he was so bitter and angry.

the reason the new incarnation of Brolly is liked so much more than the original one is because the original incarnation did NOT in fact have much in the way of personality at all, also his motivation for wanting to kill goku was really weird. and no anon 5, they never explain Broly's hate of Goku beyond " he cried too much". Old Broly was just a one dimensional super villain with no defining traits besides "IM EVIL MWAHAHAHA"
