The rival from the original game series.
In Japan, Pokemon was Red and Green with Blue coming out a little later. Red was the main character, Green was the Rival, Blue was the female character that was supposed to be added, but due to tech limits at the time they ccouldn't add a female character. In Japan, Pokemon Special uses this naming scheme
In the US, Red and Blue were released, with Red as the main and Blue as the Rival. The original Blue (the female) DID show up in pack in material for the games, but again, tech limits didn't allow a female character to be added, so she was never named.
In Pokemon Special, Blue did show up and was the female that we all know and love. She is also connected with Leaf from the remakes, as they share the exact same outfit in game and Pokemon Special chapters, respectively.
So, Red= main character, Green = Rival, Blue = female option that never made it into the games until the remakes.
