Actually, no. While it would be a good foundation for an anti-Ranma or dark/angst fic, Ranma was fully capable of handing Shampoo her ass whenever he felt like it. Or rather, as they always met woman-to-woman at this point, SHE could have done so.
Actually, I'd almost pay to see someone make a quick comic of that happening, just for shit and giggles.

Well, she does always say "Obstacles are for killing!" That said, I love the pic, especially her eyes. A (not-so) friendly reminder that Ranma 1/2, for all of it's over-the-top comedy, was full of sociopathic characters, many of them part of the recurring cast.
@ Anon - But, yeah, I almost wish someone would write a fic where Ranma was forced to put her down permanently in self-defense while they were still in China. Problem is, such a fic would be an almost guaranteed "Bad End". Even if Cologne and Mousse didn't come after him/her seeking revenge (unlikely, given the Amazons seem like the ultimate sore losers when it comes to outsider females), there's no way he'd ever get any training from them, and he stood a snowball's chances in hell of winning some of his later battles without the stuff Cologne taught him.
His only option would be if Genma finally wised the f*ck up, and taught him either or both the Yamasenken and the Umisenken, and even then he wouldn't have been able to beat Saffron with those.
@ Anon2 - Honestly, while Ryouga is dumb enough to just blindly trust Shampoo's word, charge after Tarou until one of them is dead, and then go off and get lost, Ranma would almost certainly want to take Akane's body and bury her later on, and there's a good chance he'd realize her wounds don't match Tarou's attacks (he uses his fists when in human form and if he'd hit her in his cursed form there'd be nothing but paste left). Even if he didn't notice something, Nabiki would almost certainly be smart enough to question it.
