I don't get it. Why is the machine gun worthy of noting here? Because it's optional? It has its fair share of disadvantages. You no longer have the reliability of the first gun and, although it allows for hover, it quickly becomes obsolete.

In otherwords, this pic fails at making a point or being funny due to failure. It's bad.

No, I've saved her even with the Machine Gun (speed running attempt). It's booster v.8 that matters. If you skip it, you can save her.

And ironically, it's easier to save her with the machine gun because skipping Booster in the labyrinth is much easier.

I guess it depends on personal preferences, as I prefer the spur (one weapon you don't have to level up in the sacred ground), though machine gun would be a godsend down there (which is perhaps why some people think that it's equivalent to the easy mode, but who cares about it in sacred ground).

They are saying that because machine gun is for noobs, it is the same as playing a MMORPG with only the starter equipment.
Pros and Cons of choosing a gun:

Machine gun:
Pro - Only way to hover before getting booster.
Con - Weak as fuck toward the end, hover is slow as fuck compared to booster, you wont be able to get the true ending(If anyone here show me someone that finished the game with machine gun, I will show you someone that lost years of his life doing something that could be done in days).

Polar Star:
Pro - Can be traded for guns that have unique shots that help you defeat misery/doctor/ballos(by help I mean the only way to finish the game by a human).
Con - You will play some stages without hover, but they can be finished easily even without hover.

tl;dr: If you choose machine gun, you lose.
