Silver may have been misguided at first, but he was the most badass rival yet, unlike the 3rd gen and 4th gen "friend" rivals.

Silver was actually kidnapped, along with Blue (the fire/leaf girl), and made to undergo extensive training under the guidence of "Mask of Ice" the leader of neo team rocket. Silver and Blue became friends while undergoing thier training and decide to escape from "Mask of Ice" together. Blue goes back to kanto, and Silver stays in johto. so basicly, the two have the technical prowess of proffessional assassins about them. so yea... silver is incredibly dangerous. his skills are also what allowed him to be so stealthy and literally STEAL his way to glory. Blue on the other hand is seen constantly heckling Red and Green, and often tries to con unsuspecting trainers. Sapphire especcially.
Silver and Blue still keep in contact, even in the most recent chapters.
