Well, some Japanese drinkers do ask Shouchuu after beers, really... If you would drink with Japanese co-workers at somewhere bars like the picture above, they will insist at first you should ask same beer. And next, you can ask any other drink you like. If you turn down such an odd habit, then they would regard you as "kuuki-ga-yomenai" ( or, one without common sense).
