^you had a point, but they had to pad out the episode somehow, and making it more boring wasn't going to increase rating.

Anon 2, Well, according to Nakashima's tweets, one of the regular episode directors, Oda praised those episodes. Oda himself said not so long ago that anime and manga are 2 different mediums and differences should be expected. It's an adaptation and not a carbon copy of the manga. You can disagree with some choices, but the creator doesn't mind them it seems.

@Cypress_Cat: Well, the problem is that TOEI makes Luffy look stronger than he is. They make Kadiou struggle a bit when originally he just got up and speed blitzed Luffy without any effort. It gives people the wrong impression and compared to other fights makes the power levels inconsistent.

^I know this is an old comment, but all you did was reiterate Anon2's point and I addressed it. If they had Kaido blitz Luffy, the episode would have had to be padded out with SOMETHING. They could have maybe padded it with a Hawkins/Law fight scene, but even that would have felt like a let down compared to the main draw of the episode.
Just read the manga.

^I know this is an old comment, but all you did was reiterate Anon2's point and I addressed it. If they had Kaido blitz Luffy, the episode would have had to be padded out with SOMETHING. They could have maybe padded it with a Hawkins/Law fight scene, but even that would have felt like a let down compared to the main draw of the episode.
Just read the manga.
