@BaldurAnthology
"O Great Darkness, in exchange for luxury, wealth, pleasure, and welfare by my will.
According the Christian beliefs regarding sorcery, a contract is made between a man and Satan, or any other demon (or demons): The man would offer his soul for devilish favors. Those favors vary from story to story, but generally include eternal youth, knowledge, wealth, love, or power.
It's estimated that there are people who make a contract without asking for anything in return, as a way to acknowledge Satan as their master. Following the discourse of western monotheistic religions, such behavior is very dangerous, as the price for those favors is the eternal imprisonment of the soul.
Therefore, those are stories where the subjects are always doomed. On the other hand, some of those stories present a comical subversion, where a humble farmer deceives the Devil, almost always using the writing between the contract's lines."

Hebrew written by someone who doesn't know Hebrew.
Real Hebrew is written R-to-L (so is Yiddish).
