"Lucy" isn't really a bitch. She's had a very shit life where she has been bullied, experimented on, and tortured.

Lucy is a more complex character than people give her credit. She had choices and has shown to have a bad track record of usually picking the wrong ones. But even when she tries doing the right thing the world often punishes her anyways. After all she was being discriminated against even before she got her powers or became evil.

Her mental illness combine with people saying Diclonius are evil does not help either. It's one of those cases where you can't say she didn't have a choice but to be be evil but you also can't say the world didn't push her to become so. She pretty much became a monster because the world treated her like one.

Those who hate her can not deny she had a hard life, but those who defend her can't deny the collateral damage she leaves in her wake. At the start of the series she hates Diclonius just as much as the humans who are bigoted towards her cause being one of them is the reason why she was treated unfairly to begin with. But later in the manga she actually stops hating other Diclonius and actively kills them as an act of mercy to spare them a life time of misery.

And while she regrets her actions and lives to have a chance to apologize to someone she has wronged, time and time again she just can't even stand to be near said person because of her guilt, let alone talk to him and leaves as no words she says will ever be good enough.

It's interesting to see people have no sympathy for Lucy but try and defend or justify the actions of characters like Walter White or vice versa.

I see her as like Dracula or other tragic villains. You can't support their actions but you can understand it.

Or Darth Vader. I forgot to add Darth Vader.
