I would like an example. I may not agree with the Zora stuff, but like the anon before said, I don't honestly see how aquatic life evolved into birds. Maybe into land creatures like reptiles, which THEN evolved into some other shit which THEN evolved into air creatures.
Besides, wouldn't the Zora pwn in Sea Hyrule? Or can they not handle salt water or something?

Fish people evolve into people people evolve into bird people. Does that work for you? They don't even have full wings until they GET THEM FROM THE DRAGON SCALE. Before then they're hardly different from people. It's EVOLUTION. Of course they didn't jump straight from Zora to Rito, there was some middle ground, AND THAT IS THE VERY ESSENCE OF EVOLUTION.
Although I always thought they were more related to the gorons since they guarded the fire dungeon with a dragon on top of a mountain and the Zoras were the ones killed where lord Jaubun (obviously a reference to Jabu Jabu) escaped from. Just how to Korok's were descendants of the Kokiri. Of course Goron to Rito makes less sense than Zora to Rito, at least both the Zoras and the Ritos have a similar lanky body shape.

Implied in-game, confirmed by Word of God.
As for why that happened, I guess the (friendly faction of the) Zoras figured that the water pressure that accumulated during the deluge would outright kill them. Plus the fact that there's no (non-setient) fish swimming throughout the great sea would have them looking for other food sources. (At least I think that Zoras eat fish.) Uninhabitable waters + lack of primary food source = need to adapt to life above water + change in primary food sources, I suppose.
