The MG338 is part of a new class of machine guns, Lightweight Machine gun-Medium. I would have just called them lightweight medium machine gun but ironically General Dynamics own gun that is part of this class took that name already so...yeah. There's an LMG-M called Lightweight Medium Machine Gun. UGH. I hate the naming conventions of weapons sometimes, even worse when they change the name or ownership.
