Considering Kubo put out a new source book with Squad 11's former Captain before Zaraki came in and did a OHKO and it wasn't Isshin, I'd say that theory is now BULLSHIT.

First of all, unless it gave the full name that wouldn't prove anything (maybe not even then). Isshin clearly wasn't Kurosaki at the time or someone would've recognized the name when Ichigo appeared.

Secondly, I can't find any reference anywhere that points to a name for the previous squad 11 captain.

Bottom right, second from the edge; that is the former Captain of Squad 11. Now, unless Isshin went through a serious body change, they are NOT the same guy.

Considering half of the captains in that picture haven't been captains for 100 years, unless it actually says that was the captain defeated by Zaraki there's no reason to assume it was.

In the book named Masked, which is the newest character/source book, the former captain of Squad 11 has been named Kenpachi Kiganjū. He was the 10th Kenpachi, the one ZARAKI KILLED for his position.

As such, unless Isshin was a captain BEFORE Kenpachi Kiganjū, it's pretty much a lock out for him being a/the former Squad 11 captain.

But really, Kenpachi Kiganjū looks a bit like Yammy; Kubo could troll us and make him THE SAME GUY somehow. Because that's how Kubo rolls.
