Well, you see, the problem is that you ain't swingin' at them. Axes are poorly balanced weapons, and generally rely on wider, heavier swings as their lethality lies in the bladed head. Take advantage of this and open with a full body tackle -exploit the gap in their effective range to the upper hand!

Also, throwing something at their face usually works. It can be a pebble or a handful of rocks, hardly matters as most people's instinct is to shield their face from it.

Also she looks scrawny as fuck, so once you get past the axe, just start beatin' on her. If you're really worried, take her axe and finish her off with it, or at least mangle them knees so she can't follow you.
