Here's the truth...most people didn't know he existed till just now because they've never played any guilty gear in their lives. Daisuke wouldn't have said anything till it became a big topic and felt the pressure to give a response and unfortunately it was the wrong one. He caved and what's worse he's probably a joke in Japan. Read a few Japanese forums and you'll see it gets harsh no matter what the topic is. I'm pretty sure he's lost reputation in Japan over this nonsense and worse point that even a kid game held its ground.

Imagine hearing Splatoon 3 had this nonsense and told them straight before it could get steam "Shiver isn't non binary" that not only shut them down quick it straight up ended right there. I rather play as some inkling shooting paint then a fighting game who's dev has no balls. Nobody actually cares about this crap because OK this character is now trans or whatever will you buy the game or merchandise? Nope too busy ruining another franchise.

Not probably, he is. I know people there and the ridicule is off the charts. It's an absolute clusterfuck for him and very few people are happy about it, if any. No one likes it. Daisuke fucked up and everyone wants a piece of him, even people who don't play the game but are aware of it.
