Japanese people cannot pronounce the letter L, so they pronounce L's like R, therefore you get "Runch."

「ランチ」 spelled in romaji is ranchi. the L's and R's in japanese get mixed up. japanese people don't have R sounds. Its L sounds.
to make a R sound they stretch the ア"A" sound into アー"Ah" sound.
「ライト」 is both "right" and "light" they both sound the same in japanese.
another example is the words "best" and "vest" they have no V sound and use a B for it.
