Rubicante did specifically point out he got all four of them together the second time because he could see from the first fight how your party was stronger than the sum of its parts. So you can't say they didn't learn anything.
maniacal_tentacle_monster: They would have had to nerf Barbariccia then. She can use Storm/Maelstrom in the second fight, and if Rubicante or Cagnazzo followed with an MT spell it's an insta-wipe. Still, that would have been some fun insanity. I honestly don't know if you could beat them without powerleveling.
