I wish this had been the ending instead of a typical Gainax ending. Why must Gainax always have such downer endings?
If they could do anything with enough willpower, then why couldn't they save her? THEY DESTROYED THE MOST POWERFUL BEING IN THE UNIVERSE. Surely resurrecting the dead would be a knack.

Well, I'll admit Gainex does go for downer endings way to much, but in this case, it actually makes sense. The whole reason the Anti-Spirals were suppressing and hunting Spiral races was because they beleived that Spirals could not resist the temptation to abuse Spiral Power (thus eventually destroying the Universe). By not bringing Nia and the others back, Simon proved that they were capable of not abusing Spiral power, and thus proved the Anti-spirals wrong.

you know, they could have at least tried to think of a way to keep her from fading away.

I really don't understand the logic behind Nia fading in the first place. I mean, yes, the anti-spirals made her. And?
Like, if a company makes a game and its been around for years, then the company goes bankrupt, does the game suddenly cease to exist?

^ You 'bout to get learned, son.: Nia was like hair on a human (or in this case, Anti-Spiral) body. When the body dies, the hair dies a little while afterwards.
Nia, even though she wasn't 'physically' connected to the Anti-Spirals was still connected on a large enough level that without it, she was a dead woman walking.

I know this is old but I'm going to post anyway...
Firstly, pretty sure it's not abuse to bring happiness to people that had to sacrifice their lives for the sake of freedom and life for all humanity, pretty sure that's something they deserve.
Simon? He deserves more than anyone. He loses his brother and his lover all for the sake of humanity. Does he ever complain about it? A little when he's a kid but after he goes man he's like, "Gotta show them my man side." But even men deserve their dues and I think a small family with his beloved is the LEAST the world can give him.
P.S. I still think Simon is just a little sh*t who didn't try hard enough to keep his woman. If she's going to disappear, better use all that time between now and then to get enough Spiral Energy to say "F*CK YOU" to reality and keep her with you. F*ck the world, keep the canon together
