seriously anon1 almost all modern manga can have an envy tag of at least one of the three "big3" this would be like tagging kingdom hearts as a final fantasy ripoff, or any rpg that came after it a kh ripoff,
its half the point op is popular so other shows will try to emulate it (lets do what they did right and make money off of it!)

Hiro Mashima, who draws Fairy Tail, was an assistant to Eiichiro Oda, who draws One Piece. If Fairy Tail were devoid of any One Piece influence, it'd be like saying you learned capoeira from a hapkido master. What's important is to focus on the differences, not the similarities, otherwise, like anon2 said, everything would just be a ripoff of something else.

If Fairy Tail were devoid of any One Piece influence, it'd be like saying you learned capoeira from a hapkido master. No, he wasn't. He wasn't an apprentice to the author of Kenshin either. In fact, he wasn't an apprentice to ANYONE, which is pretty impressive if you think about it.
