As I understand it, the armour is actually fused to her body, so she doesn't get in or out. She has also had a number of her organs removed so that she does not need to eat etc.

Homs face anatomy is interesting, actually. Apparently the homs body is stripped of most organs save for the lungs and heart, anything directly necessary to brain function. The circulatory system is converted to tie into the face mech and support not only processed ether but raw ether from water as well. If you think about he the homs body becomes a big brain for the face mechon attached to it.
