Not really. He wasn't by any stretch a terrible pilot, but the point of 08th MS Team was to get a little insight into what it's like *not* to be at the top of the Gundam pecking-order for skill.

It's really quite frightening when you consider what an "ace" can get away with against your regular pilots. Reference the episode towards the end with the Gouf, blast, what was the pilot's name? The one who was out to kill the Guntanks. Sure he died, but he still got all three, and did a fine job of evading/confusing/debilitating the 08th in the process.

Makes you wonder what would have happened had he attained an ample supply of ammunition and more time... it seems Shiro was desperate, and if he was the Team's 'best pilot', I'm not sure anyone else could have stood up to him once he went down. Norris, you were a helluva pilot.
