the problem is, what aces are you planning to base 'em off of? The recent air operations included very little dogfighting, missiles basically one-hitted potential enemies and most importantly, it would be very concentrated on western designs - so where to take that cute little MiG-29 witch from?
Though I have to admit, the action would be top-notch! I'd also love to see more of that. Maybe the Neuroi will reappear in Pinar del Río...

well this is a sketch (and not mine) it leads to ideas and there are several aces out there with jet age technology, just not as many as there were in the 40s-60s, how ever a mondern strike witches would be killer, and add in a f 15 , a 10, f 22, mig 32, su 27 and 47, maybe a rafale for the french and harriers for the english, would u not agree, and i agree the action would be top notch. but i think somewhere around the mid asia area is appropriate wouldnt u think, because the neuroi portray the nazis in ww2 so y not the terrorists in the middle east for this age?

#513882, it's me (#513756)
Yeah that's a bit of a difficult question I guess.
After all, Karlslandian troops are also fighting the Neuroi, so I'd rather interpret the Neuroi as "The War" - that way there would be several possible scenarios, obviously. The picture portrays the Gulf War (according to the tags anyway), and my guess was that the neuroi pretty much appear where we experienced a conflict - Korea, Vietnam, Somalia, Panama, Falklands etc.
If we were to elaborate on what a good setting was for today's witches was, it might come down to a discussion of politics really fast, so I'd rather not.
About the Strikers: Yup, but as I said, the western : eastern ratio is a bit high, and we still haven't included any Strikers of Karlsland and Romagna, not to talk about other nations' engineering. Also, some special features would be simply hard to translate to Strikers, for example the Harrier: witches can hover in the air, something most planes cannot. That's the Harrier's advantage and purpose, so what should a Harrier witch be able to do? Another example would be the Su-37's Cobra. I'd say modern planes might be a bit hard to translate to Striker Units. Well, maybe Fumikane-sensei will think of something for the future...

When did the Strike Witches upgrade to JET ENGINES? I saw all of the first season and they always used propeller engines, so I assume this is from season 2.

There are still plenty of aces around. Five kills, and you're an ace, no matter how those kills came about. Missiles and all just make it easy---at least since AFTER Vietnam, anyway---so nobody makes as much of a big deal about aces, anymore. Takes less effort, so they get less attention.
As for MiG-29s, somebody could always pick up those from Hungary.
