There was an online popularity poll for this show in Japan. A bunch of otaku from 2chan decided to troll all the fujoshi yaoi fangirls who watch Inazuma Eleven and vote for him as the most popular character. As a result, he won the poll.
This led to the fujoshi getting supremely butthurt, and they decided to counter-troll by flooding a K-ON character poll with votes for Mugi. The fundamental flaw with this strategy, of course, was the assumption that people don't like Mugi.
