Surprised that I couldn't find a gif of this anywhere on the internet, I decided to make one myself. Enjoy.

I take i'm the only one who thinks putting wings on a mech is absolutely ridiculous and only makes it a bigger target?

Not that it matters though. All these sort of mechs have the "supermegamagic sidestrafe" for dodging bullets going at lightspeed so they can basically just bumrush enemies and slash them with a big glowy lightsaber...

I miss 08th MS team.

I also agree that putting wings that aren't aircraft-like on a mech is impractical. You'd think they would hinder it's propulsion and performance.

You'd think that, but you'd be wrong.

Gundam Wing and most of those kinds of Gundam AUs have usually been more about "true" super robot (uber-powerful MS, one-sided battles a majority of the time, flashiness, etc) than Universal Century has been, so they can make anything that seems impractical work in some way.

Anon2 The wings fold front to create shields so hitting one wouldnt mind crap, they´re meant for absorbing damage and protecting the back/front.

Anon3 both wings are full of vernier thursters so instead of hindering performance it actually gives the unit quick turn and high speed instead of hindering at all.
