I agree that throwing "gay" around seems immature. But "gay" as an insult seems to have become softer and less harsh sounding in recent time, you could say it's been "reclaimed" by young queer people very much like the word queer.

And besides, these two are kids and Takagi teasing Nishikata is the theme of the manga.

It is a two part post, the second part shows them older with a child and the child calls him gay, the joke being that, he obviously isn't because he has children with this girl, but no matter what you do, someone is going to call you gay. I might be overthinking it and it is also probably based on something else.

The word gay shouldn't be a thing. It's scientifically proven that both genders are attracted to men. Calling someone gay is like calling someone out for liking fruit. It shouldn't be a thing. Only uneducated people say this shit.
