I always saw it from a more realistic perspective. That humans do abuse Pokemon for power(which many do, but not everyone), and that the aim of liberating pokemon from humans would be a path of truth. But without ideals, there is not much empathy in that aim. The path of ideals would be towards a life of harmony, love and peace between pokemon and humans.
Ideals could be viewed as synonymous with Justice. Both that and Truth go hand-in-hand together.
