These are 2 of my favorites, Tyranitar tops my list. And as much as I like Charizard, according to the websites, Garchomp has higher stats. So you gotta choose between coolness or power.

This picture is the epitome of the difference between classic Pokemon (Generation 1 and arguably 2) and the hideous freaks being passed as Pokemon nowadays.

Uuuuhh, simplicity! You know why the designs were so fucking simple? Cause the Game Boy couldn't handle more. Quit your whining. That Garchamp looks horrible, while the Charizard is plain badass. Yeah, adding some unecessary stuff like spikes looks better.
Stop seeing everything through your nostalgia filter. Hand a ten-year-old boy a Game Boy with Pokemon Red and afterwards a Nintendo DSi with Pokemon White. What do you think he's gonna choose?
