Harem anime/manga are a love/hate thing for me for a different reason. I always end up rooting for the second-stringers that never get to be the one to win in the end. Which was why I was very pleased by Negima. It was looking like Nodoka was pretty much doomed to have a one-way crush and Negi would be going with the main heroine. But with a recent revelation, looks like her chances are pretty good now.

I agree with anon3 about rooting for the second stringers. Charlotte is the best. From the start, it was obvious houki wins out. And up until episode 12 char had so much more intimate reactions with Ichika. It saddens me a little to see her fight a losing battle like this.
