They only seem to portray some characters as they are in the beginning of the games in Dissidia. According to Nomura, that was to show the characters as they are 'most remembered', which was also the reason for Cloud being brooding in Advent Children.
Honestly, I prefer the end-of-the-story characterizations of most of the characters more.
Regardless, Terra is a great character, and my favorite in all of Final Fantasy.

Dissidia is not canon at all, just like any of the other crossover fighting games. Do not use Dissidia as a resource of character development or facts please.
Anons #769827 and #770754 is correct; for me, a character isn't just how they are in the beginning, but also how they changed or developed throughout the story, that is what encompasses the entire character, not just one part of the story.
